A Personal Note From Caylen
I’m originally from New York, which explains the sarcasm, the loyalty, and why I still think good pizza should fold. Years ago, I chased the woman of my dreams to West Virginia, a bold move that worked out spectacularly. I’ve been married to Kate for 23 years (clearly my best decision), and together we’re raising three incredible kids: Josie (19), Makenna (17), and Sam (11), each with their own personalities, lifestyles, and opinions about my music choices.
Before working in HVAC, I took a sharp detour into the culinary world. I was accepted to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, but once again, I chose love over logic and followed Kate to WV. I became a sous chef for a catering company in Fairmont, cooked with some truly great people, and learned that while I love food… those kitchen hours are wild!
Kate, meanwhile, took the sensible route and became a Nurse Practitioner at Akron Children’s Hospital, which makes her the real hero in the family.
I’ve been a Detroit Red Wings fan for life. When I moved to WV, I adopted WVU football, just in time for the emotional rollercoaster that was the Pat White/Pat McAfee era, and yes, I’m still not over the 2007 Pitt game. (Rich Rodriguez, we need to talk!)
These days, when I’m not working, you’ll find me:
- Officiating local soccer matches in Alliance (and working toward becoming an OHSAA official).
- Actively involved with Carnation City Players, our local community theater.
- Running a nonprofit I founded called AHS Creative & Performing Arts, focused on raising funds and support for local school programs.
I believe deeply in community, education, creativity, and showing up where it matters. I’ve spent over 25 years in customer-facing roles, with 17 of those in HVAC, which means I genuinely enjoy helping people. I explain complicated things in plain English, and fix comfort problems without the salesy nonsense.
